FAQ for consultants

Find answers to your questions and further insights into how confluentes works. If you have any further questions, please contact us directly!

01

Who can be a confluentes consultant?

At confluentes, any current or former WHU student can become a consultant. Therefore, confluentes consultants can be at various stages of their academic journey, including undergraduate, master's, PhD, or MBA students, as well as alumni.

01

How does a typical confluentes project work?

Projects are announced to the entire consultant pool through email. The project announcement includes all crucial information about the project and the required qualifications that a consultant must possess. We welcome applications from consultants meeting these criteria. After the application deadline, the responsible board member will reach out to potential candidates. Once the client has chosen their consulting team, all other applicants will receive a rejection via email. This rejection does not impact future project opportunities. Upon consultant selection, the consultant receives the contract and necessary confidentiality agreements (NDAs), which should be signed and returned to the board member. Subsequently, a kick-off meeting takes place with the client. Throughout the project, the consultant is required to log their working hours. At the project's conclusion, the consultant submits a comprehensive invoice for all hours worked.

01

Is the project work compensated?

Yes, confluentes projects are compensated. Therefore, it is necessary for each consultant to log their worked hours in our time-tracking tool (EmpireSUITE).

01

Where and how do I log my worked hours?

Starting from 2023, confluentes utilizes the EmpireSUITE platform for tracking the hours worked. As a consultant, at the beginning of the project, you will receive a PDF guide for EmpireSUITE from your respective board members. This guide provides a step-by-step explanation of how to log your worked hours in EmpireSUITE.

01

When applying for a project, how long should I expect to wait for an acceptance or rejection?

This greatly depends on the project and may vary. However, all applicants will receive feedback.

01

How do I properly submit my invoice?

For shorter projects, the invoice is generally prepared at the end of the project, encompassing all worked hours and expenses. However, in longer projects, interim invoices may be issued at the end of each month. You should have received an invoice template and a project code from the overseeing board member. Please complete the template by filling in the highlighted sections, sign the invoice, and send it as a PDF to your contact person at confluentes.

01

Do I need any prior experience or qualifications to be a confluentes consultant?

No, every former and current WHU student has the opportunity to become a confluentes consultant. No specific prior experience or particular qualifications are required. However, individual project announcements will explicitly mention the necessary skills and knowledge that a consultant should possess for that specific project.

01

How long does it take for consultant invoices to be paid?

It may take up to 30 days for the invoices to be processed and paid. Therefore, please be patient if the 30-day deadline has not yet elapsed. The responsible board member will contact you promptly if there are any issues with your invoice, preventing payment.

01

Can I apply for multiple projects simultaneously?

Yes, you are allowed to apply for multiple projects at the same time. The board conducts internal coordination to ensure that no consultant is inadvertently selected for two projects simultaneously.
